At the risk of sounding like..........

So Chris and I have had a Saturday off together and we spent it brilliantly, headed to town, late lunch then cream tea with Ben and Rach before heading to see their new house (very nice!!). Then we spent the evening in front of the TV having a bit of a James Cordon marathon (not intentionally......it just so happened that the DVD arrived this week from Love Film and BBC3 scheduled this way.....I promise....we're not stalking him).

First off, 'History Boys' the brilliant adaptation of Alan Bennett's play. An amazing story and really well made.

Then BBC3 running all 6 episodes of the brilliant 'Gavin & Stacey'. James co-wrote this with Ruth Jones and it's a brilliant series. A really great love story without any cynicism a real treat (and one of the best church scenes I've ever seen!!). Anyway we watched the whole series with Matt & Chell when it was first on but missed the first half of episode 5. Well tonight we rectified that and watched the whole lot. However the start of episode 5 has a scene in which Gavin's mum Pam is singing and in walks Gavin's dad and joins in. The song......"I know him so well" from the musical 'Chess'. And suddenly y mind went back in time to this blog post (go have a read then come back......go on......I'll wait.....go on.....I'll give you a few minutes)

WELCOME BACK!!!!

Anyway it can only mean one of three things;

1. James read my blog and I inspired a scene from one of the best new comedies of the last decade (that's a big statement but it's up there with the best of them)

2. I have the same kind of comic mind as one of the co-writers of one of the best new comedies of the last decade (this is a good sign as Glyn and I are currently writing a comedy pilot.....I'll keep you posted!!)

3. This is a common occurrence for married couples in Essex (where G&S is set)

Whatever the case.....check out Gavin & Stacey it's being repeated loads on BBC3 but a BBC2 run cannot be far away.

Oh dear......I feel a restraining order coming my way......I wonder if he'll sign it for me!!

From a great height

Last night myself and the boys from electralyte headed to Brighton and when we got there they decided to go and pop in on Paul Oakley. Paul's a worship leader and songwriter and we had a great time with him and his family and got fed and looked after very well. A highlight of this particular visit was looking into Paul's office and seeing on the wall some gold and platinum discs including one for 'I could sing of your love forever vol.1' The reason the disc stood out to me was that it was the first CD of Christian worship music I ever bought. I had gone out to buy some stuff and found myself in the local Christian bookshop and saw this disc, picked it up and bought it. I wasn't really a massive fan of contemporary Chrstian music but thought I'd give it a go and I relly enjoyed it, music had a lways been a massive part of my life but now I was opened up to a whole new aspect f music in worship. Quite cool to see it hanging there as a gold disc and knowing that it had been a real turning point in my Christian experience.

Anyway back to Brighton, Jon had got us onto the guest list for MuteMath and we headed to the venue to see the band (just missing the support) it was a bit of Christian music Who's who in there, 3 of the original members of the band Steve, 4 of the 5 delirious? boys Paul and Cathy Burton and lots of new bands all hanging out to see MuteMath.....and they delivered!!

It was incredible!!

Great sounds, great show, great atmosphere and great band. It's likely they'll not do many more little pub gigs as there's a real feeling this year's going to be the start of something big in the UK for them.

Well worth checking out.

Here's their video for 'Typical' it's a great tune and a very clever video (they had to learn the whole song in reverse....singing and playing!!)

Enjoy
